Born and raised in Suriname on the north eastern coast of South America, Ray relocated to Africa at 22 years old. Inspired by his late
father he always felt like he should do more with his life.
He is the first born child so was very responsible. Ray always wanted to try something different so initiated his move to South Africa to
challenge his capabilities. Africa had its fair share of challenges but he was smart enough to tackle them.
Ray grew up as an enterprising young man; he used to help a friend who had a marinade sauce kitchen back at home. Ray could make
his own marinade sauce he then decided to run a marinade sauce company in South Africa. He was employed at the time so he used to
market his business to colleagues the first 3 months he had no customers until one of his colleagues tried out the sauce.
They were so many negative opinions around his business but he didn’t give up but he worked hard and improved, after a while the
business started doing well and Ray began to expand. He started running a full kitchen selling beverages, food and some of his native
dishes.
He was invited by the Suriname consulate office in SA to serve food at their annual year end meeting. A few catering companies were
invited but Ray’s company took first place, things were going so well for him that he ended up quitting his job to focus 100% in growing
his business.
Ray opened an eatery to fully run his business. The first 6 months were okay and the business was doing well. It all started to go south
when one of the kitchen stoves had an electric fault which led to him being almost burnt down in the fire. Ray had to vacate the
premises where he was running his business as they were some leasing issues and ended up selling all of his gadgets.

He sold all of his electrical gargets; the only thing he was left with was a Nikon D3100 digital camera. Ray went into the streets offering
free photo shoots to anyone who was interested. He had discovered a new hobby which was photography. Photography became the
thing for him after few years of learning and perfecting his work as a professional photographer, he got his first wedding shoot gig in
2015.The shoot was just okay however he wasn’t happy. He got another wedding gig that was a total disaster. It was real setback for him
but he started getting training and watching videos online within a short period of time he became pro.
Ray launched his Media Company Cyfslens photography. In 2017 he started getting big gigs and managed to hire his first assistant.
Cyfslens focuses on image excellence and great customer service. They strive to go above and beyond their clients to make sure their
time is valued, deadlines are met and the highest quality product is delivered. The company serves private and corporate clients all over
the country. When it comes to Photography and video Cyfslens is the company to go with.
Ray had multiple failed business ventures but he didn’t give up. He concludes by saying If it seems impossible now don’t feel any despair it’s actually possible.
